Cleave in the Holidays

Filed under: dealing with self, quality time — The Generous Wife @ 1:30 am
Just a little holiday reminder ...
Our marriage relationship is very important.  Yes, we need to love on and respect extended family, but not at the expense of our husband.
God is very clear - when we marry, we LEAVE our home of origin and CLEAVE to our spouse, creating a new family and home.  What that means practically is that we need to take into consideration what is good for our spouse.  We may need to stand up for our spouse with our family of origin, and we don't ask our spouse to be someone they are not or treat them differently at family gatherings.
I realize that family expectations can be challenging during the holiday season, but I strongly encourage you to highly value your husband and your marriage during the coming holidays.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:24 NKJV

  1. This sounds like solid advice. I've never thought of this type of situation. Something to think about... don't get to acting funnystyle around your family people! The Holiday or any other time...
